Introduction of writer
William Shakespeare (26 April, 1564- 23 April 1616) was an English poet, play wright and actor. He is also called England’s national poet, and the Bard of Avon. He is the greatest playwright of his time, a person who broke the unities which were followed by the tradition, who gave a new form of play. He has written comedy, tragedy and historical plays.
Hamlet

Hamlet is a tragedy written by Shakespeare. Hamlet is a story of the character Hamlet. It is a tragic end of character Hamlet. The writer depicts the incidents that how the tragedy comes. The character Hamlet is one, who is full of philosophical thoughts and his mindset is preventing him to take any action against the crime and he made an object to female for his furry. Here we are going to study feminist approach in Ham
let.
FEMINISM

Feminism is a political movement, movement of ideology and social movements, the common goal is to define, establish and achieve political, personal and social rights for women. The rights are telling to make or establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. It also includes the right to vote, to work and to get equal vegs.

HISTORY OF FEMINISM

Simone de Beauvoir wrote the first time. We see a woman takes a pen in defence of her sex. Was Christine de Dieud’ Amour (Epistle to the God of Love) in the 15th century.
FEMINISM

          A person who supports feminism.

DEVELOPMENT OF INEQUALITY

I think it became the way of life when a woman grows. People often make her realize that she is a woman and she is an inferior to man. It is the social structure where from the days of school all learn there types of example in texts.

RAM IS EATING.
SITA IS COOKING.

It showcases the difference of their routines or their living lives, either identifying her as human but we making them girl. A human when at the born ,does not have the idea of gender. But with the style of their growing the born baby becomes a boy or girl .In this play, we are studying women characters and their atmosphere. And the treatment given by males to female in the play Hamlet’. And what are the aspects which makes the women inferior in the play.
STUDYING FEMALE CHARACTERS IN HAMLET

In ‘Hamlet’, Shakespeare defines the position of female characters of his time. While we discuss about a woman’s status either of historical or present. It is the same in treatment if ways are changed. The female characters of ‘Hamlet’ are mainly characterized as inferior to male. The main female characters of play are Gertrude and Ophelia.

These are the characters having fear in some corner of their heart. The fear of living, the fear of love, that’s why they want to predecease their fear. They want men in their life. As we see Gertrude hastily marries to Claudius and Ophelia many times abused and humiliated by Hamlet, she wants her love. It shows man protects a female in anyway of life if it is tragic situation or happy moments.

Gertrude

The appearance from the beginning of Gertrude is fascinating us. She is the wife of king Hamlet but after king’s death, she hastily marries to king’s brother  Claudius, here the hastily marriage is not accepted by her son Hamlet mentally. As we see per  Hamlet’s views, Gertrude is shallow and thinks only about her body and external pleasures.
“The Humaliation of female character by her own son;in the play”
The death of Hamlet’s father ‘o ’erhasty marriage’ of his mother to his uncle Claudius so threaten Hamlet’s ego; he becomes the man of action not for his enemies but he uses his power to humiliate. His mother. Hamlet directs fury toward his mother. Gertrude becomes an object of competing male desires.
Carolyn  expressing herself well throughout the play. She is a solicitous of Hamlet, asking him to sit near her to give him a sense of belonging to the new court and her speech to Laertes upon Ophelia’s death is a model of Decatur and sensibility, one instance in which her usual directness would not be appropriate. In this play, rare character has the ability of reality. Gertrude is one of them it is her
Ability to see reality clearly and to express it.
While we study the act 3 in play, Hamlet has furies on his mother. As Hamlet rails against his mother and even violently seizes her. She  cries,
“ Thou welt not murder me?” she betrays no knowledge of the murder. “ what have I don’t that thou dar ’st way thy tongue/ in noise so rude against me? She asks. Hamlet denounces her sexual passion and she replies: “O Hamlet, speak no more. Thou turn’st mine eyes into my very soul,/ and there I see such black and grained spots/ as will not leave their tint.”
Heilbrun sums up Gertrude character by saying
“ if she is lustful, is also intelligent, penetrating and gifted.”
We can say that after Hamlet’s death. She feared of her life and she is honest enough to admit that sex had something to do with it.
After studying the character of Gertrude we can conclude that the decision of hastily marriage. It can be taken into consideration that a female does not want to be alone or she does not feel perfect without male or a female has fear of something and male is a power and she wants to be with power.
Ophelia
Ophelia who loves Hamlet, a sweet and innocent young girl, she also becomes victim of Hamlet ( THE MALE NATURE). She is dependent on men,his brother and father. She is an obedient person also. Here we find that the character of Ophelia is not as important as her representation of dual nature of women in the play. Ophelia’s distinct purpose is to show at once Hamlet’s view of women as callous sexual predators, and the innocence and virtue of women.
OPHELIA DEPENDENT ON MEN

When Ophelia’s father finds that she loves Hamlet. But Polonius, knows the  nature of Hamlet so Polonius warns her not to meet Hamlet and she can not get letters from him and Ophelia does it so. She obeys the order of his father as per feminist point of view, Ophelia is full of surrounded by male characters and also she obeys them and I think, she herself understands that she is inferior to male and she lives in that way. Another instruction also is given by Laertes, his brother to Ophelia and he warns Ophelia about Hamlet’s intentions.
RELATIONSHIP OF HAMLET AND OPHELIA

Ophelia agrees to Hamlet that she loves him but when we come on Hamlet we can not give a decissio0n it is like
“ TO BE OR NOT TO BE”
Hamlet himself also does not know either he loves her or not.
OPHELIA BECOMES VICTIM OF MALE POWER

We can have action of Hamlet when he uses his power on Ophelia. The main target of Hamlet should be Claudius for his action but he can’t so. He greets Ophelia as ‘nymph’, Hamlet asks her to pray’ for him but then begins to berate her savagely, the first time he has really let his emotions go in front of someone else. He wants to know if she is ‘honest’ as well as ‘fair’ and shouts.
GET THEE TO A NUNNERY
The abusing word is said by Hamlet. This shows that a male has no value of women if she mistakes or not male puts a question on her character. As we know the character of male at which cost it is pure or not. Ophelia after listening abusing words for her by her love, she recalls the memory what his brother said to him about Hamlet then leaves her.
Both female characters are merely male possessions and both female characters have unequal expectations of virtue and ‘Obedience’ enforced on them by the male characters.
FRAILTY, THY NAME IS WOMAN.
This sentence shows the man’s cruel behavior towards women. Woman has to suffer because she is a woman.
STRUCTURE OF ONE’S GROWING UP
Ophelia is very well saved by her father and brother. She is not involved with matters of state: she spends her days no doubt engaged in needle-pig and flower gathering. How is her development.
HER CHARACTER IS THAT OF SIMPLE UNSELFISH AFFECTION.
As per feminist view it is not left but to say.
‘WOMAN IS NOT BORN HUMAN MAKES WOMAN.’

CONCLUSION
While concluding feminist approach in Hamlet, the female characters of ‘Hamlet’ are represented as the using object of men. They go through the worst experiences even if there is no mistake of fault of them. They have to suffer the results given by so called man.
